What We Stand For

Value

Four pillars guide everything we do: Quality Excellence, Recognition, Sustainability and Technology.

Quality Excellence

"Our believe is to serve holistically." We maintain international food safety and quality standards through rigorous procedures and strict protocols at every stage.

Quality Analysis meets globally recognized standards. Extraction is mastered as the Art of Essence — preserving unique aroma and flavour in every batch.

How It Is Made

Four controlled steps, every batch.

Nothing leaves Akuressa without passing all four. The order never changes, and neither do the thresholds.

  1. A steam sterilisation chamber with its door open, steam still hanging in the air

    01

    Sterilization

Steam treatment brings the microbial count down to export thresholds without touching the volatile oils that carry the aroma.

  2. Cinnamon quills and cut spice spread across tiered drying racks in an open-sided shed

    02

    Drying

Moisture is taken to a controlled level and held there — the single variable that decides whether a batch keeps its colour and its shelf life.

  3. Ground spice running along a conveyor under the metal-detection arch

    03

    Metal Detection

Every batch runs the detection line before it can be packed. A rejection stops the lot, not just the reading.

  4. Sealed kraft sacks and foil pouches stacked on a pallet in the packing hall

    04

    Packing

Sealed to the destination market's specification, labelled to its traceability requirements, and logged against the batch record.

Where Do We Stand

Recognition

Being in the industry for more than five decades, our continuous business achievements have established Samagi as Sri Lanka's largest exporter in the cinnamon and spice sector, maintaining international standards compliance.

03

Sustainability

Sustainability means different things at different scales. Our team has identified several key areas that we believe are material to all our stakeholders and to us as a responsible business — guided by a dedicated team working towards a whole new era of eco-life.

We encourage organic farming that rebuilds soil wealth by keeping harmful chemicals out of our natural sources — enhancing biodiversity, restoring the environment, and benefiting the farmers we work with.

Sustainability In Practice

Every step we take toward growth includes one step closer to nature.

Undergrowth left standing, mixed planting kept in place, and soil treated as the asset it is — because an estate farmed this way is still producing in fifty years.

04

Technology

We use the most advanced technologies to extract pure essential oil and produce every form of spice while preserving its authenticity.

A fully-fledged, state-of-the-art manufacturing unit and laboratory assess quality throughout the process — endorsing the finest product by preserving its unique aroma and flavour.

The Art of Essence

Steam distillation, run slowly enough that the volatile compounds carrying the aroma survive the separation instead of being driven off with the water.

Analysis In-House

The laboratory sits inside the plant rather than at the end of a courier route, so a batch that reads wrong is stopped the same day it is made.
